Speen Allotment Charitable Incorporated Association (SAA CIO) runs the allotments and we rent the land from Sir Richard Sutton Limited. The plots are in a enclosed site off Station Road, Newbury. Currently, the site benefits from having high hedges on three sides providing privacy and a sense of the rural setting, whilst the western side borders open fields.
Sheds are only allowed round the outer edges of the site which means the site looks and feels open and tidy. Plots vary in size from 2.5 - 10 poles so there is always a plot suitable in size to meet everyone's needs. We are pleased to boast a community that ranges in age from 90+ to young families. The latter keep the site vibrant and help teach the next generation the joy of gardening and being outdoors in nature.
The allotment site is included in the Conservation Area and are an essential element of village life (see the Speen Village Design Statement)
