AUTUMN NEWSLETTER 2015
Sadly the growing season is over, the ripening season is nearly at an end and the evenings are getting shorter. This year we all suffered from a lack of rainfall when it was needed. The month of August was wet and cold, this delayed the ripening of some vegetables. However this did not prevent the usual variety of weeds from growing.
Speen Fete kindly donated £100 to SAA. A big thank you to the members who donated plants, produce, flowers and gave up their time to help out on the stall. We will be collecting for the annual Church Harvest Festival, if you do have surplus produce and flowers to donate please could you leave them on the grass inside the gate for Cliff to collect at 2pm on 26th Sept. The new mower lower handle has been replaced due to metal fatigue, if you identify a defect while using the mower please report it to Cliff or a committee member. Please let the site manager or committee member know if the strimmer spool needs re-charging with string. The judging of the best kept allotment has been determined and will be announced at the Annual General Meeting. The proposed site access pathway negotiations is still in progress with Suttons Estate’s, when we have more information a notice will be posted on the SAA notice board. The annual cutting of the front roadside hedge will take place late October, arrangements will be displayed on the SAA notice board.
